Sara Laschever looks at the causes of this recently recognized phenomenon and assesses the shockingly high price paid by women, their families, their employers, and the economy as a whole if they don’t take steps to address it. She shows women how to recognize more opportunities to negotiate, evaluate the economic value of their work, rehearse their negotiations beforehand, and employ negotiating strategies that have been shown to work well for women. Sara Laschever is an author, editor and cultural critic with a special interest in women’s life and career obstacles. Her byline has appeared in the New York Times, the Harvard Business Review, the New York Review of Books, the Boston Globe, the Village Voice, Vogue and Glamour.
