"The Women's Club: The Heartbeat of Chautauqua"
This is a must-see video of 125 years of history of the Chautauqua Women’s Club. In celebration of this very special anniversary year, Barbara Vackar, former CWC President, and Betsy Martin, former board member, collaborated to produce this video highlighting the past and the present. It will be shown June 23, at Season’s Greetings and at the two Life Member Celebrations, July 6 and Aug 4.Read more
And the Beat Goes On... 125 Years
It is hard to imagine a world with-out instant messaging, automobiles, or even indoor plumbing, and no one ever sought to be “gluten free” in 1889. Yet the Chautauqua Women’s Club has been meeting since that year, starting with a focus on educating women and furnishing the fellowship that assists individuals to grow both personally and professionally.
This season we celebrate 125 years of making a positive difference in the Chautauqua community. A new video has been developed to illustrate that history. Barbara Vackar took on the challenge to marry historic footage of early Chautauqua with new film of current Women’s Club activities. In “The Women’s Club – Heartbeat of Chautauqua”, a drum beat depicts the developing CWC spirit from early “camp” meetings, through formal lectures and programs, and then to last season’s Young Women’s Club “drumming” event. The film presents our core beliefs while spotlighting the tremendous effect the CWC has on today’s Chautauqua community. The film will be shown at Season’s Greetings and throughout the summer. Don’t miss it. As we move into our next stage, the CWC is seeking ways to stay connected to our membership. Our community is changing from those who stayed in Chautauqua for a season to those who visit for a week or two.Read more
